    I’ve toured the area extensively and was very close to buying. Let me say, real estate in Melasti is absolutely stunning — some of the best cliffside ocean views you’ll find in Bali. The road infrastructure has improved in the last 2 years, especially with the new southern bypass roads. You're about 25 mins from the airport and 15 from Uluwatu. That said, it still feels like a “destination” area rather than a daily-living place. It’s best suited for luxury villas and holiday rentals. A friend of mine bought a 2BR villa here and rents it out for $300–$400 per night in high season. The returns are strong if you go for short-term rentals. Just be careful with land titles and leasehold terms — this part of Bali can be tricky without a good agent and lawyer. But if you're after dramatic views and vacation appeal, Melasti is a smart long-term play.
